Marriage Certificates

Once your wedding has taken place, your Officiant will mail the required paperwork to the Office of the Registrar General within two business days. It will then take between 6-12 weeks for the government to “register” your marriage. Once this has occured, you may then order a Marriage Certificate. Please note: the government will not issue a receipt or acknowledgment that your marriage has been “registered”.

The Marriage Certificate is legal proof that you are married, and is one of the documents necessary if you are planning to change your last name.
