After Your Ceremony

Immediately after the ceremony, your Officiant will place the signed Record of Solemnization from the Marriage License into an envelope - this is yours to keep. Your Officiant will then mail the rest of the Marriage License to the Office of the Registrar General within two business days. Once the government receives the Marriage License, it will take between 6-12 weeks for them to “register” your marriage. Please note: you will not receive notice or any paperwork from the government confirming the registration.

If you wish to have a Marriage Certificate, you must order one; it does not automatically get mailed to you. Read more about the process at:

Provincial Government website

Please note that it is not the responsibility of your Wedding Officiant to either purchase your Marriage License or order your Marriage Certificate.
